MP3 or WAV · up to 10 MB per file
Sign in to identify music. Your audio is sent to a third-party recognition service only when you submit it.
Audio files only: MP3 or WAV, up to 10 MB. No live microphone recording, lyrics search, humming search, video uploads, or pasted links.
How can I find a song when I do not know its name?
If you have a recording of the actual music, upload it to this song finder and look for a matching title and artist. You do not need to know the lyrics or who sings it. If your only clue is a line of lyrics, a tune you can hum, or a video link, you need a different input method. This audio finder accepts saved MP3 and WAV files.
I have an audio clip
Upload an MP3 or WAV file up to 10 MB. A saved phone recording can be used if it contains the actual song and is in a supported format. There is no live microphone recorder on this page.
I heard it in a video
If you have the soundtrack as an MP3 or WAV file, you can submit it here. A YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram URL, or a video file itself, cannot be used as the input.
I only remember lyrics or a melody
This tool cannot search typed lyrics or match your humming. For a lyric clue, search the words you remember; for a melody alone, use a search tool that explicitly accepts humming.
I want a free online song finder
Use the tool in your browser without installing a dedicated app. Recognition costs no generation credits. An account and sign-in are required, and usage limits apply.
How to find a song from audio
Upload and preview your audio
Choose an MP3 or WAV file up to 10 MB, then listen to the preview. Use a passage with clearly audible music. If it starts with silence or talking, prepare a clearer clip before uploading; this page does not trim or extract audio.
Sign in and identify the song
Select Identify song. If prompted, sign in, return to the tool, and review your selection before submitting it. Choosing a file alone does not start recognition. You do not need generation credits.
Check the title, artist, and version
Review the possible match. Album details, cover art, and a listening link appear when returned by the service. Compare the linked recording with what you heard; a matching title alone does not confirm the exact remix or performance.
Find a song from the audio you already have
Identify an unnamed music file
Have a downloaded recording or an old file with no useful name? Upload the audio to look for its title and artist. Check the match before organizing your collection; the tool does not rename your files.
Find music captured in a phone recording
If you saved a clip of music playing nearby, try a supported audio file from that recording. Use the part with the clearest music. Talking, crowd noise, and distortion can make a match harder.
Identify a video's background song
For a song heard in a TikTok, YouTube video, or Instagram Reel, start by checking the creator’s music credit or audio label. If you already have an MP3 or WAV soundtrack, you can try it here. Direct video and link recognition are not available.
What to try when a song finder gives no result
Choose music over speech and noise
Try a passage where the song is louder than dialogue or background noise. Avoid distorted sections. This tool does not remove voices, isolate instruments, or repair the recording before recognition.
Check for a different version
Sped-up edits, slowed-down tracks, remixes, covers, and live performances may not match the recording available to the service. If you have the unaltered source, try that too. A result may point to a related release rather than the exact edit you heard.
Use more clues when audio is not enough
For a very short clip, try a longer clear passage if you have one; there is no guaranteed five-second match. If recognition still fails, check any music credits and search a distinctive lyric alongside details such as where you heard it. Repeatedly sending the same unclear clip may not help.
Song Finder FAQ
What song is this, and who sings it?
If you have an audio recording, upload it as an MP3 or WAV file and select Identify song after signing in. A successful match returns a song title and artist. Listen to the linked recording when available to check that it is the song you heard. Recognition is not guaranteed.
Can I upload an audio clip to find a song?
Yes. This song finder accepts one MP3 or WAV file at a time, up to 10 MB. You can preview the selected file before submitting it. Other audio formats and video files are not supported. Renaming a file extension does not convert its format.
Is this song finder free?
Yes. Song identification is free and does not use your generation credits, whether a match is found or not. Each signed-in account can submit up to 3 requests per minute and 10 per rolling 24 hours. Shared service limits also apply.
Can I identify music online without installing an app?
Yes. Upload a supported audio file through this page in your browser. No dedicated song-recognition app is required. You still need to sign in, and this page does not listen to music playing nearby through your microphone.
Can I use this song finder without registration?
No. You can read the page, choose a file, and preview it before signing in, but identification requires an account. Free use does not remove the sign-in requirement.
Can I record through my microphone or upload a phone recording?
There is no live microphone recorder on this page. You can upload an existing phone or microphone recording if it is an MP3 or WAV file up to 10 MB and contains the actual music. Convert other formats before uploading; this tool does not convert them for you.
Can I find a song by lyrics, even if I remember them incorrectly?
This tool does not accept typed lyrics. If words are your only clue, try a text search for a distinctive phrase you remember. Use quotation marks for words you are confident about; if there are no useful results, remove uncertain words or try alternate wording. Add context such as the language or where you heard it. These are search suggestions, not features of this audio finder.
Can I find a song by humming, singing, or whistling the melody?
This version does not provide humming, whistling, or sung-melody search. It is designed for recordings of the actual music. If you only remember the tune, use a tool that explicitly offers humming recognition, or look for a recording of the song you heard.
Can I upload a video to identify its background music?
No. Direct video uploads are not supported. If you have the soundtrack as an MP3 or WAV file, submit that audio instead. This page does not extract sound from a video. Choose a passage with as little dialogue and sound effects as possible.
Can I find a song from a TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram link?
You cannot paste a video or social-media URL into this tool. Check the video description, music credit, audio label, or creator’s comments for the song name. If you already have a supported audio recording, you can upload it here to look for a match.
Can it identify a song from a five-second clip?
A five-second match is not guaranteed, and we have not established a reliable minimum clip length. You can try a supported file, but a short fragment may contain too little recognizable music. If it fails, use a longer clear passage within the 10 MB limit. This page does not trim audio for you.
Can it recognize music with people talking over it?
You can try, but speech, crowd noise, and sound effects may obscure the music. Choose a different passage where the song is clearer if one is available. The tool does not remove speech or background noise, and turning up a distorted clip is not a guaranteed fix.
Can it identify sped-up or slowed-down songs?
A match is not guaranteed for altered-speed or altered-pitch audio. The service may return a related recording, a different version, or no match. If you have access to the original-speed source, try that and compare the result. This tool does not restore the original speed.
Will it find the exact remix, cover, or live version?
Not necessarily. The artist, title, album, and listening link can help you check a possible match, but they do not prove that it is the exact edit or performance in your clip. Compare the recording itself. The tool does not identify every sampled song or certify which release is the original.
Why can’t Shazam or another song finder identify my song?
We cannot diagnose another service’s result from this page. No match here may mean the audio is unclear, too brief, altered, or not matched to a recording available to the provider. Try another clear passage. An upload error, service outage, or usage-limit message is different from a completed search with no match; follow the message shown instead of repeatedly uploading.
How can I identify an obscure or unreleased song?
There is no guarantee that a rare recording, demo, local performance, or unreleased track can be matched. If a clearer clip still returns nothing, check the source’s music credits, search any distinctive lyrics, or ask the uploader or performer. No match does not prove that the song is unknown, original, or free to reuse.
Is my audio uploaded or saved?
Submitted audio passes through our server to a third-party recognition provider. We do not add the file to your library or store it in our audio storage. A minimal recognition result becomes eligible for cleanup after 24 hours. To preserve your selection through sign-in, your browser temporarily saves the file locally for one hour; it is removed on return, or cleared after expiry when this tool is next opened. Avoid private conversations or sensitive recordings.
Can I download or reuse the identified song?
This tool does not provide downloads of identified songs. Identification does not grant reuse or commercial rights. When a listening link is available, use it to review the track on the relevant service and check any rights you need separately.
Is this the same as a song title generator?
No. Song Finder identifies an existing recording. A song title generator helps create name ideas for your own song; it does not tell you the title of music you heard.
